Buu Long cultural park in Dong Nai province

Location: Buu Long Cultural Park is located in Buu Long ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, about  30 km away from Ho Chi Minh City.

Characteristic: Buu Long Cultural Park is known as "miniature Ha Long Bay of the South".It is a landscape with beautiful natural sceneries of high mountains, large lakes, ancient pagodas that make up a charming beauty spot which attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Buu Long Cultural Park covers an area of  about 80 ha, including Long An Lake (Hidden Dragon Lake), Long Van Lake, hilly terrain with two mountains Buu Long (34 meters high), and Long Son (37 meters high). The name of the lakes and mountains are derived from the historical event when Gia Long Emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty- the last monarchy of Vietnam was forced to flee at this place.

Visitors then can escape the noise and air pollution in the industrial city and enjoy the fresh air and poetic scenery of Long An Lake nestled in the park. The 20,000-square-meter lake is an artificial reservoir formed after hundreds of years of stone exploitation by humans. The beautiful lake has plenty of large rocks that look like small islets. The rocks in the middle of the lake, the park’s key attraction, tell an even more interesting story. Visitors can go around the lake to an islet in the middle of the lake by boat. Climbing 35 meters to the top of the islet, you will have a wonderful view of the charming sceneries of the park from different angles. For families with kids, Buu Long Cultural Park offers a mini-amusement park with merry-go-rounds, ball houses and roller coasters.

Close to the lake is Mount Buu Long, which reflects itself on the lake, creates a beautiful spot. The top of Mount Buu Long provides you with a panorama of Bien Hoa City. Also from the top, visitors can see a green stretch of fields interwoven with branches of the Dong Nai River, all creating a mountain-river-country picture.

Buu Phong Pagoda was built in the 17th century on the mountain in the form of a thatch-roofed hut. It was then renovated and enlarged in 1829 with nearly 100 steps to climb up to the top. Many ancient artifacts are kept at the pagoda, including clothes dating back to the Nguyen Dynasty, and lying Buddha statues. Around the pagoda are several towers, large rocks of strange shapes and very big Bodhi trees. The rocks and trees make the surroundings cool and pleasant for visitors to rest after a tough climb.

Near the pagoda is Mount Long Son, which contains many stalactites of different shapes, sizes and colors.

Tourists can enjoy being outside amongst the trees and carefully pruned tropical plants. And for those looking for a more peaceful, quiet escape, a simple restaurant offers a full view of the lake where one can sit and sip coffee while gazing out at the water.
